Quote from the Winner
I am honored by the nomination for this teaching award. In fact, this award is a testament to the energy and curiosity of my trainees, who fuel my passion for teaching. Clinical medicine and the practice of research takes its toll on clinician-scientists, as evidenced by high rates of burnout and low quality of life scores. I find that teaching medical students is the perfect antidote, since their wide-eyed enthusiasm, energy, optimism, idealism and hunger for knowledge remind me of how I felt when I was in their shoes and reinvigorate my passion and sense of purpose. So I would like to use this moment to express my thanks to the students that nominated me, and the larger pool of students who continue to motivate me.
