Biography
Dr. Alonso-Gonzalez is a staff Cardiologist in the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Unit at the Toronto General Hospital and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medicine of University of Toronto. He received his medical degree from the University de Navarra (Navarra, Spain). He undertook his specialist cardiology training in Badajoz and Madrid, Spain. Subsequently he completed a fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London where, in 2012 joined the ACHD Consultant team. In 2018, he relocated to Toronto to join the Adult Congenital Heart Disease unit. His areas of expertise are Heart Failure in Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Failing Fontan circulation. He is very passionate about teaching and since May 2020 he is the Fellowship Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program.
