Biography
Dr. Savithiri Ratnapalan is a Professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She is also a Staff Physician at the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Ratnapalan completed her Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka, and attained her Masters of Education from the University of Toronto. Most recently, she completed her PhD in Leadership in Higher and Adult Education at the University of Toronto. Dr. Ratnapalan has consistently been recognised for her research and teaching, receiving the James C. Fallis Teaching Award consecutively from 2011 to 2013, as well as the Helen Batty Award for Faculty Development (2011) and David Fear Fellowship Award for Continuing Medical Education (2006) respectively.
About the Award
Dr. Dave Davis has had a long and distinguished career in Continuing Education at the University of Toronto. He was the Associate Dean of Continuing Education at the University of Toronto from 1994-2005, and laid the groundwork for the concept of evidence-based continuing professional development. The Dave Davis Research Award recognizes an outstanding completed research/scholarly project in Continuing Professional Development in the Faculty of Medicine.
