Biography

Dr. Shirley Tse received her medical degree from the University of Toronto and completed her postgraduate training in pediatric medicine and pediatric rheumatology at the University of Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). This was followed by a CIHR Fellowship with further PhD training in Immunology and Cell Biology at the University of Toronto where Dr. Tse studied the human host response to pathogens. In 2003, Dr. Tse joined the Rheumatology Division and currently is appointed as Associate Professor. Dr. Tse has also been the Program Director for the Division of Rheumatology Pediatric Rheumatology Training Program since July 2007. Dr. Tse’s clinical and research interests are focused towards juvenile spondyloarthritis (diagnosis, classification, outcomes, radiologic imaging, and treatment) and in education (development of innovative methods of teaching pediatric rheumatology). Dr. Tse has a specialized juvenile spondyloathritis clinic at SickKids. Dr. Tse is one of the collaborating experts of the Spondyloarthritis Research Consortium of Canada (SPARCC) research program on spondyloarthritis (SpA) focusing on pediatric SpA. Dr.Tse is also appointed as the Chair of the Royal College Examination Board for Pediatric Rheumatology.
