Biography

Dr. Everton Gooden is the Division Head of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at North York General Hospital and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Gooden began his career at NYGH in 2001 and has served in a number of senior leadership positions including Chief of Staff, Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee, President and Vice President of the Medical Staff Association. He has served as a Director of the North York General Hospital Foundation Board of Governors since 2011 and currently chairs the Nominations and Governance Committee of the North York General Hospital Foundation Board of Governors.

Dr. Gooden continues to volunteer his time towards a number of community organizations and has been the recipient of a number of community awards including the 2017 Harry Jerome Trailblazer Award and the Metro Land Media Urban Hero Award in Health.

This award recognizes excellence in teaching at a Community Hospital.

Established by the Faculty of Medicine in 2012, the Community Based Teaching Awards recognize the significant contribution of an increasing number of University of Toronto community-based teachers to the learning of medical students and residents.
