Biography

Dr. Radhakrishnan completed her undergraduate medical degree and postgraduate Pediatrics training at McGill University. She went on to complete her Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Toronto, Hospital for Sick Children. She had a passion for teaching ever since her undergraduate training and thus pursued the Master’s in Health Professions Teacher Education through the DFCM at the University of Toronto. She currently is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and practices Nephrology at the Hospital for Sick Children. Over the years, Dr. Radhakrishnan has been actively involved in many aspects of medical education in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at UofT. She has been in the role of Director of Electives, MD program since 2014 and Co-Director for the Transition to Residency course since 2015. Dr. Radhakrishnan Chaired the AFMC Electives Network from 2016-2019. She is the Competence Committee Chair for the Division of Nephrology at Sick Kids, and a member of the Nephrology board of examiners at the Royal College.

About the Award

These awards are named after William Thomas Aikins, the first Dean of the Faculty of Medicine after its reorganization in1887. They are the Faculty’s most prestigious awards in the MD Program. They were established to recognize and formally reward outstanding teachers in the areas of Individual Teaching Performance (Foundations and Clerkship), Development and Use of Educational Innovations, and Course / Program Development and Coordination. Recipients of these awards have significantly contributed to high-quality undergraduate teaching by establishing and integrating new and effective methods of instruction into the curriculum.
