Biography
Dr. Paula Ravitz is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry whose academic scholarship is focused on improving access and clinical outcomes of mental healthcare through capacity-building and implementation of evidence-supported psychotherapy practices. She led in creating the multimedia 6-volume “Psychotherapy Essentials to Go” curriculum (Eds. Ravitz & Maunder, 2013, 2015) for post-grad medical education and knowledge translation, and produced a novel digital interactive course to scale training access in Interpersonal Psychotherapy for depression treatment (www.LearnIPT.com). Co-author of the Canadian guidelines on psychotherapy depression treatments (CanMAT) and the recent Canadian Psychiatric Association’s position statement on Psychotherapy in Psychiatry, she is a past Director of the University of Toronto (Psychiatry) Division of Psychotherapies, Health Humanities and Education Scholarship. Additional research collaborations are focused on perinatal depression, culturally-adapted IPT with the Toronto Addis Ababa Academic Collaboration, and with the Canadian Psychotherapy Practice Research Network, implementation studies with community-based therapists to improve therapeutic alliances and clinical outcomes.
