Biography

Dr. Barathi Sreenivasan completed her Bachelor of Science, MD, and postgraduate residency in Canada. Her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation was completed at Queen's University. She is quadruple board certified, having successfully completed medical board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation , and additional subspecialty board certification in Electromyography (EMG), Brain Injury Medicine, and Neuromuscular Medicine. Her main interests are in Rehabilitation of Neurological conditions. She has a particular interest in Stroke Rehabilitation, Spasticity Management and Electrodiagnostic testing, and also treats Geriatric Rehabilitation and general physiatry patients. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, residents, and allied health students. Her teaching interests include classroom and clinical teaching and education for stroke patients. She has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Education and is currently in the process of completing her Master’s in Medical Education. She has travelled widely and is fluent in English, French and Tamil, and has a basic knowledge of Hindi.

About the Award

These awards are named after William Thomas Aikins, the first Dean of the Faculty of Medicine after its reorganization in1887. They are the Faculty’s most prestigious awards in the MD Program. They were established to recognize and formally reward outstanding teachers in the areas of Individual Teaching Performance (Foundations and Clerkship), Development and Use of Educational Innovations, and Course / Program Development and Coordination. Recipients of these awards have significantly contributed to high-quality undergraduate teaching by establishing and integrating new and effective methods of instruction into the curriculum.
