From the Nomination

"I worked most closely with Dr. Leis while leading our fellows’ QI project. He helped design our project on the topic of antimicrobial stewardship for community-acquired infections among patients admitted to the general medical wards at Sunnybrook. He is an exceptional mentor because he was available to discuss the project regularly, but he gave us the autonomy and skills to make it successful. He taught me the importance of engaging effective stakeholders and communicating persuasively. Above all, it is Dr. Leis’ enthusiasm for QI that is so captivating. He exemplifies the kind of leader that I hope to be, singularly focused on improving care for all patients through multifaceted interventions. His dynamism in QI is what has motivated me to pursue a graduate work in this area."

"After working with Dr. Leis in different scopes of clinical practice and research, I
always think of him as one the greatest examples of academic medicine dedication, organization, enthusiasm and efficiency. He is also a great model for stewardship in all aspects of medical practice."
