Biography

Dr. Branka Agic is the Director of Knowledge Exchange, Provincial System Support Program (PSSP) and an Independent Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). She is also the Associate Field Director of the MScCH program in Addictions and Mental Health, and an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Public Health Division at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She received her medical degree from the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and completed her Masters of Health Science (MHSc) in Health Promotion and Collaborative Program in Addiction Studies, as well as her PhD in Health and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Toronto. Her research interests include Mental health and substance use among immigrants, refugees and ethnic groups, Social determinants of mental health, Health equity and access to service, and Knowledge translation.

About the Award

This award was named to honour Dr. Fred Fallis, the first Assistant Dean in Continuing Education in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto (1982-1985) and one of the founders of Telemedicine for Ontario, which later became Telemedicine Canada. The award is available annually and recognizes an individual or group which has demonstrated innovation and excellence in online learning for health professionals.
