Biography

Dr Hosanna Au is Paediatrician at the Hospital for Sick Children and Clinician Educator in the Department of Paediatrics. She is a true-blue "University of Torontonian" having completed her undergraduate degree, medical degree, and pediatrics residency at the University of Toronto. She completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Dundee. Her primary clinical practice is in pediatric hospitalist medicine. Her education focus is on undergraduate medical education, advocacy and social pediatrics. She has been teaching paediatrics to medical students for over 15 years. She is the Director of the Life Cycle Course and is Associate Director of Undergraduate Paediatrics at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. She is engaged in curriculum design and implementation, assessment, and teaching for large and small groups in both classroom and clinical settings.

About the Award

These awards are named after William Thomas Aikins, the first Dean of the Faculty of Medicine after its reorganization in1887. They are the Faculty’s most prestigious awards in the MD Program. They were established to recognize and formally reward outstanding teachers in the areas of Individual Teaching Performance (Foundations and Clerkship), Development and Use of Educational Innovations, and Course / Program Development and Coordination. Recipients of these awards have significantly contributed to high-quality undergraduate teaching by establishing and integrating new and effective methods of instruction into the curriculum.
