Biography

Kiran Patel BSc (Hons) MBBS DipFMH DipAB (Dist) MAcadMEd FRCPsych MCPsychI FRCPC completed Medical School and post-graduate Residency training in the United Kingdom and practiced as a Forensic Psychiatrist in the UK before moving to Canada. He is currently a Staff Psychiatrist within the Forensic Division of the CCR Programme at CAMH and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Dr Patel is Clinical Head for the Forensic Early Intervention Service, the CAMH partnership programme with the Ministry of the Solicitor General. He is a Consultant to the Mental Health Court at Old City Hall Courthouse. He is Medical Head – Criminal Justice Interface, a CAMH leadership position directing and co-ordinating the various CAMH services that directly interface with the Criminal Justice System. He undertakes additional work with Ontario Provincial Corrections and Correctional Services Canada.

Dr Patel’s academic work revolves around teaching and training in Corrections and Forensic service development.
