Mandy Lowe is the Senior Director of Clinical Education at the University Health Network (UHN) where she leads a diverse portfolio that includes integrated clinical education across all healthcare professions, clinical educational development, health science libraries, clinical education leadership, clinical observership and interprofessional education and care. She is also the Strategic Advisor for the Centre for Advancing Collaborative Healthcare & Education (CACHE) at the University of Toronto (UT). She has led/co-led a wide range of professional and faculty development opportunities addressing the intersection of clinical education with such topics as curriculum design, facilitation, online learning, knowledge translation and more. Mandy holds a status appointment as Assistant Professor, Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Medicine, UT and has been recognized for excellence in teaching by colleagues and students. She remains committed to clinical education, collaboration and knowledge translation including research projects that address learning, leadership and more. Maria Tassone is Executive Director, Education at the University Health Network (UHN). Her work focuses on leading change in complex systems, professional development, and team-based learning. Maria was the project lead, which supported over 17,000 healthcare workers for COVID-19 redeployment. From 2009- 2021, Maria was the inaugural Director, Centre for Interprofessional Education (University of Toronto and UHN). She is currently Co-Director of the Collaborative Change Leadership Program. Maria has been recognized as a health care innovation leader with the 3M Team Innovation Award and the Ontario Hospital Ted Freeman Award for Education Innovation. As a mentor within and beyond her profession, she was awarded the Canadian Physiotherapy Association National Mentorship Award. Maria holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from McGill University, a Master of Science from Western University, and she is an Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Therapy, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. Belinda Vilhena is Director, Operations and Business Development at the Centre for Advancing Collaborative Healthcare & Education (CACHE) and Conference Services/BMO Conference Centre at the University Health Network (UHN). Belinda leads operations and strategic business planning, program planning, client engagement and liaises with education/practice centres across the globe. Belinda is the CACHE Professional Development Lead, Co-Director of the ehpic™ program and faculty for the Collaborative Change Leadership™ (CCL) and VITAL programs. She is a co-recipient of the 2019 Excellence in Interprofessional CPD Award (ehpic™) and 2021 Helen P. Batty Award for Excellence & Achievement in Faculty Development for Innovation in Program Development and Design (VITAL). Belinda holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology/Biology and a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto. Belinda's prior experience includes 18 years working in the Emergency Department and in Patient Relations mediating patient and family concerns at UHN. Kathryn Parker began her scholarly work in utilization-focused program evaluation in 2002 and received her PhD in program evaluation from the University of Toronto in 2006. Her collaborative work moving educational innovations forward have garnered numerous awards including the Sherman Award of Excellence in 2017 and the 2018 Award of Excellence in Organizational Leadership from the Canadian Association of Pediatric Healthcare Centres. She was also the recipient of the 2013 AMS Phoenix Fellowship and the Larry Chester Award for Excellence in Strategic Leadership from the University of Toronto in 2013.She is an Associate Professor with the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto, currently serves as the Senior Director of Education at Holland Bloorview and is an Associate Director with Centre for the Advancement of Collaborative Healthcare and Education. She has been a part of the faculty team of the Collaborative Change Leadership program since its inception in 2009. Jill Shaver is an independent consultant focusing on strategy development and implementation, organization and system change, and leadership development. Building on over 25 years of working in healthcare, Jill focuses her consulting within the public sector. Jill guides organizations in creating processes for coordinating, integrating and sustaining system-wide change, while enhancing organization and individual change leadership capacity. Jill has an MBA from McMaster University and a Master of Science in Organization Development from Pepperdine University. Jill’s passion is transformational learning and change; and inspiring leaders, groups, and organizations to create their highest future potential. In addition to consulting, Jill has worked with the Centre for Faculty Development, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto at St. Michael’s Hospital; and is currently adjunct faculty in the MSOD Program at Pepperdine University. Jill is Co-Director of the Collaborative Change Leadership™ Program, University Health Network.

When the CCL Program started over a decade ago, it was ahead of its time, yet it is exactly what is needed for the uncertain, ambiguous and complex time in which we find ourselves. It addresses a critical need in our current and future healthcare system. It offers an unprecedented blend of academic theory and evidence, hands-on work with real-time projects in healthcare organizations, and coaching by CCL faculty to support participants in becoming leaders of collaborative, sustainable change. It is a timely, unique, and innovative approach to program design and delivery, and relevant to the transformation of the healthcare system.

To honour Dr. Ivan Silver’s distinguished contribution to the fields of continuing professional development (CPD), this award is intended to recognize an innovative CPD initiative developed and delivered by a University of Toronto faculty member or team that has demonstrated an impact on health professionals’ performance or improved health outcomes.
