Melissa Tai MD FRSCS MSc

Biography

Melissa Tai graduated from the University of Toronto in 1993. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1998, followed by a clinical fellowship in urogynecology, both at the University of Toronto. She joined the Obstetrics & Gynecology department at Michael Garron Hospital in 1999. She returned to IHPME, University of Toronto to complete her MSc in Clinical Epidemiology in 2012. Dr. Tai is interested in developing cost saving strategies, efficiency, and safety protocols in obstetrics & gynecological surgeries. She co‐developed the MGH education modules in Obstetrics for clinical clerks and family residents. She is a dedicated clinical teacher and holds an assistant professorship at the University of Toronto. As an amateur musician, she is a member of the Rose Orchestra of Brampton since its inception.

About the Award

This award recognizes sustained (normally 10 years) excellence in community-based teaching, and may include mentorship, the integration of scholarship in teaching and interprofessional collaboration.

Established by the Faculty of Medicine in 2012 the Community Based Teaching Awards recognize the significant contribution of an increasing number of University of Toronto community-based teachers to the learning of medical students and residents.
